Recap: A Homey Christmas

Dear readers, I would do some recap posts every now and then just to at least record what I have done in the past 6 months into this blog, for memory's sake :)

18th December, 2010

The holiday season this year wasn't quite the same for me. Being thousands of miles away from home was the hardest reason.

Exactly a year ago, I remembered counting down for Christmas in the middle of Potuguese Settlement Melaka with my girlfriend and our best friend.

I truly missed that moment and mostly, I missed my family and friends back in Malaysia.

Being a little homesick during this Christmas, a warm dinner with friends was what I needed. So a big Thanks to Aunt Mary and Uncle Vincent who opened their humble doors for us to have a nice home cooked Christmas dinner together.

Aunt Mary and Uncle Vincent are like the godparents for the Macquarie Oversea Christian Fellowship group and I thank them for having us over.

They have such a lovely and warm home, it felt like one of those wholesome family setting you see on Christmas cards or the Hallmark channel.

After a short prayer and by 7, dinner is served.

A scrumptious and wholesome spread of food. Aunt Mary is definitely a master chef and a classy one at that. She prepared the whole thing in such a short time and did most of the work by herself.

Hats off to the chef!

This beautiful baked salmon marinated in garden herbs is to die for! It was really moist, tender and flavorful.

My first helping, have to be moderate and a little decent. Got myself some ham, baked vegetables, salmon and other healthy food.

Some nice wine to compliment the dinner. Ehem ehem... I would like to propose a toast...

To friendship, old and new - "Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him, a new friend is as new wine; when it is old, thou shalt drink it with pleasure"

To my two most beloved seniors, Shen-Ann and Kok Lian, who would be going back to Malaysia soon to be future educators - May you two stay healthy, happy and full of nonsense as always. Miss you guys :')

To Uncle Vincent, Aunt Mary and all my friends - Thanks for making me feel welcomed in OCF with a lovely evening filled with good company, food and wine.

I'm Back! with 10 Most Memorable Event in 2010

Dear friends and readers,

Words could not express how much I missed you guys and how much I missed writing in this rusty blog of mine. The sheer guilt of abandoning all of you has haunted me for the past 6 months, especially when several loyal readers asked about my well-being. Thanks :') But fret no longer my friends, for I am BIA - Back in Action!

I will be honest here. Life's been very difficult for the past few months for many mixed reasons. However, I have overcome it with lots of support and love from people around me. For that, I am truly blessed and thankful.

It's quite impossible for me catch up and even update you guys over the things that happened to me over the past 6 months in just one entry. But I hope this short recap would be a good start:

My 10 Most Memorable Events from 2010

#1 Coming to Sydney

It was 4 days before Chinese New Year that I left my family and friends in Malaysia. I haven't seen them for 1 and a half years now, and I kinda missed them...

Wanted to fly home end of last year, but Dad shooed me off, saying that the house has been 'cleansed' by a medium, and my presence would invite bad energy and break the seal. Lol nah, he just said don't waste money.

Anyway, life has been different here in Sydney. Feels like I have got the chance to grow up and see the other side of the world where the grass is greener, literally.

Oh yesh, I am a big boy now!

#2 Making new friends

I met some really cool people here in Sydney, who turned out to be really good friends who I could count on.

I missed my big sis Kit. She was my housemate, one of my first new friends here and the one whose prank failed and almost saw me naked LOL. I still laugh thinking about it now.

Life in Sydney would just suck big time without all of them.

#3 Hello Melbourne!

It was such a good week there with my cousins, aunt and uncle. I had the best Dim Sum and Thai Food ever, enjoyed the beach house, saw the award winning penguin parade at Phillip Island, played tennis, basketball and footie with Jono, and went for a youth meeting and got in touch with my spiritual side.

All in all, for that 1 week, I had a blast, and only spent like 28 dollars :) Thanks to the family.

#4 Dining with the big shots

and dinner with the Deputy Prime Minister

That was fun...

#5 Went to Canberra for MASCA's Got Talent competition .

Won 3rd place with our dance routine...

Met a female dog.

#6 Losing AUD2000 in Casino

Ouch! Ok here's a lay down of what basically happened that fateful night. Went to Star City with a good friend of mine from 7pm till 6am in the morning. At one point we were on a winning streak and everyone was just staring at us and wanting to be our buddies. A China aunty even commented on why are we students playing so big. I was up AUD2200 and he was up almost 10K.

Well, we should have left... By 4am... everything went downhill. Ya, in the end I lost that much. I know i know, foolishness + greedy = big hole in the pocket. Haiz what a night to remember painfully...

P/s: Please don't tell my dad. I don't want a hole in the head.

#7 Hosted Malaysian Festival 2010

Me and my good friends, Tracy and Ilyana were selected to be the emcees of that big event. Well it turned out to be quite an epic fail. We didn't rehearse and I end up blurting nonsense on stage for hours and kinda embarrass myself in front of 10,000 attendees. Thank God for mr Raj to the rescue.

The good part out of that nightmare was I got to interview Adam from Masterchef Australia (and also poked him saying "omg you're REAL... i thought you're only on tv")

LOL, buat malu je...

#8 Got A Job in a Korean Restaurant

Worked as the hall staff...

Met this cute waitress...

flirted a bit...

and got fired after just 2 weeks working...

SCORE!!!!

#9 Got Hired by the best Malaysian restaurant and one of the top restaurants in Sydney.

Turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to me since I came here.
The irony is that it's just NEXT DOOR to the Korean restaurant. Yes rub it in their face.

Will let you know more about Mamak soon. That restaurant is worth a blog post by itself.

#10 New Year Countdown at the heart of Sydney

Went bar hopping with mr.Foo, met up with friends and watched the most beautiful firework display ever from the balcony of Homebar. Apparently the fireworks are synced to the music that was broadcasted on the radio.

Sydney is after all the capital of new year's eve of the world. It was simply the bomb and we partied till sunrise! woohoo!

and that my friend, is the 10 most memorable events that I had last year.

With that, I am officially back in blogging yo. Just wanna say thanks again to my readers for not giving up on me and hope to catch up with you guys soon!

True Horror Of The 10.10.10 Tragedy

Many have came to learn about the horrific accident that happened in Alor Gajah Melaka on the 10th of October 2010. But only a handful have seen the true horror of what really happened at the site.

It was definitely a tragic day to remember as the accident took 12 innocent lives away and left over 40 badly injured survivors. Life's unpredictable and unfair isn't it?

One minute you're thinking of what to have for lunch, and the other, you're either gone leaving the ones you love or suffering in the hospital.

I would like to take this chance to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the departed. It may take some time, but I hope they will recover from their loss and go on with a deeper understanding of life.

And to all those who always asks this question

"What race died? Chinese? Indian? or Malay?"

I say F*CK YOU! Be human for once.

Dinner With The Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin

Last month was lunch with the Minister of International Trades, Dato Seri Mustapa Mohamed. This time was dinner with our Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Minister of Education.

Stop blessing me God, I don't deserve it.

The event that was celebrated that night was the Tan Sri Muhyiddin's Charity Golf (TSMCG) which was successfully held in Sydney for the first time.

For those who didn't know, TSMCG came around in 2003 as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation to raise funds for charity through golf. This time they hit a new record of most golfers participating in the event - 51 in total.

The dinner and prize giving ceremony took place at the grand ballroom of Shangri-la Hotel and the attendees consists of Tan Sri Muhyiddin and his organizing committee, Dato and Datin golfers, UMNO youths ...

basically all the rich and influential people...

and then there's the performers and the selected few students from universities around Sydney...

and of course the hungry blogger and his 1Malaysia housemates :)

After listening attentively to the half an hour speech, not checking out girls around but being inspired by our handsome (and apparently good in singing too) deputy prime minister, it was time to get what I came for...

FOOD!

The dinner consists of a three course meal - appetisers, mains and desserts - with two different choices given for appetisers and main course.

The picture above of the delicious looking cream cheese salad is one of the appetisers.

The other is the one that I was given - Fried Squid with bean Sprouts and Coriander. Much better than that vegan delight.

The first choice of main is Fish, Broccoli and Rice with some kind of coconut milk based gravy. I guessed it's either green curry or lemak style. Either way it was very Asian, and really satisfying to the taste buds.

The other main, Aussie beef steak, was simply my favourite! As they say, a barbarian loves a good thick slab of meat.

Plus it was cooked just the way I like it - medium rare. Some of my really Malaysian friends don't like the blood and texture. Too bad for them, it's their loss.

The best part of all is that I had an EXTRA plate when one of the Dato did not eat his. Seriously, stop blessing me God, I didn't pray for so long.

Then finally the desserts came. Yummy but the jellies tasted like cordials - too sweet!

Because desserts was too diabetically hazardous, some of the Datos and Datins passed theirs to us. More chocolate cakes for me then!

After eating, everyone could use a light exercise. And so, the guests were invited to do the 'poco-poco' dance! Our Malaysian government just loooovvvvveeess this dance so much.

They even invited Australian aboriginals (made in Malaysia) to entertain us.

Continuing my buay-paisehness (thick-facedness) by asking for the minister's autograph lol.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin's autograph on my invitation card and on top of it is my number for the lucky draw that they had during the event. Fast buy Magnum 4d!

My Guitar Debut

As some might have already known, I'm a beginner who is slowly improving my guitar skills and the elective subject that I took for this semester has helped me a lot in that process.

One of the requirements for MUS207: Guitar Principles is a guitar practical test in which we were already tested a few weeks back. Basically, the tutor will test individuals on chords, scales and a free choice of song to be played on guitar. This was my bit, a simple rendition of Muse - unintended. Hope you guys enjoy it.

(Sorry, a little messy with the audio video synchronisation. Kinda rushing to finish it)

I know it's lousy, but we've all got to start somewhere right? Hopefully this is just a preview for my future as a pro guitarist (ya right)

Lunch With The Minister, Dato Seri Mustapa Mohamed

The Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry has just arrived in Sydney on Tuesday and so the selected few of us students got the opportunity to have a meet and greet session with him over lunch.

He will be here for 5 days, and will be travelling to a few cities in that short period of time. His hectic schedule includes meetings with Australian businessmen and attending the annual Forbes 100 richest people in the world.

If everything goes well, he and his team will be able to promote our country and attract more foreign investments to Malaysia, which means more $$$ for us!!

Introducing our hardworking and good-looking minister, Dato Seri Mustapa bin Mohamed. It was such an honour getting to know him in real life. Chatting and sitting with him made me learn that he is truly inspiring, genuine and humble in person.

The meeting was an opportunity to die for, especially for us to learn of our nation's economic status, current affairs and the development of our beloved nation, first-hand from the man who made it all happen.

Not to forget the scrumptious buffet that made that session just perfect. Main course include Fish with Cheese fondue, Teriyaki Chicken with fragrant rice, Salmon with lime sauce and Chicken Satay.

The buffet spread offers quite a variety of healthy delicious finger food as well such as these vegetable wraps...

and other cold dishes such as tuna sandwiches, soba noodles, and different type of salads.

There are desserts too but I forgot to take pics since I was too busy being glutinous. Overall, great food, nothing less to be expected from the famous Shangri-la.

After lunch, the few of us decided not to head back yet, but to walk off our bloated bellies and enjoy sight-seeing at the city while we're here.

It's a good 15 minute walk to the beautiful Sydney Opera house. Directions made possible thanks to I-phone (this is not an ad).

Besides the strong wind that messed up my hair, the weather was perfect! So we just sit, laze around, meditate, take pics, and do basically nothing. Don't you just love this feeling.

Conception Day at Macquarie Uni

Welcome to my uni!!

You have come at the right time. Its the highly anticipated event of the year for fellow Macquarians - Conception Day a.k.a Everyone-Let's-Get-Drunk Day

I'm not shitting you. If I tell u how awesome it is, you just wouldn't believe it.

Basically, everyone drinks all day and parties at the uni ground which is completely changed into a whole new world just for the event.

and I mean MAJOR changes! The uni park is turned into a carnival with rides and shit. Even Alice in Wonderland is nothing compared to the real deal.

A concert stage is erected by the lake which is super cool with all the environment, drunk crowd and a variety of hot steamy performances coming in together.

Awesome live bands! I sometimes have to remind myself that I'm still in uni.

More awesomeness include the courtyard turned into a concert for acoustics performances and the cafeteria turned into a clubbing hall!

Since conception day is a responsible service of alcohol day, the police are always supervising us in the event site.

But, they can't do anything about the massive pre-drinking going on in the macquarie university residential village...

Pre-drinking out of the event site means, sitting around with friends, enjoying the nice sunny spring weather...

drinking beers, shots and what not...

fertilizing random houses...

getting bitten by crazy drunk girls...

puking everywhere...

and finally going into the light...

Raya Open House at Malaysian Hall Sydney

Raya overseas for us was like... no family around, no holiday, not much visiting but instead, tons of assignments, tests and online quizes, and less money to spend by the day. Government, fast bank in next allowance please. Thanks haha.

There goes the Raya feel. Nevertheless, we did have a few open houses among our course mates and one big one organised by the Malaysian Student Department of Australia (MSDA) last Saturday.

Here's some pics:

The pretty ladies, Nisya and NurAmina from NurKasih lol. We're in the chartered bus that took us from Macquarie to Malaysian Hall, Randwick.

Upon arrival, we had to buy the utensils for AUD 1 (RM3) lol. If you wanna save money and the environment, bring your own.

Queuing up for the food. Luckily not much people because we are there quite early. Lots of photo taking along the way.

There were four stalls serving the following delicacies: (1) Desserts, fruits, cakes, kuih and drinks (2) Sticky yellow rice with dry beef curry, roti canai (indian 'flying' bread), dahl curry and chilli paste...

(3) Nasi minyak (buttered rice), ayam masak merah (chicken in red chilli sauce), vegetables and laksa. (4) Satay, nasi himpit (compressed rice), rice cake, peanut sauce, curry, and thin noodles.

I know! So much Malaysian food! Which is a luxury for us coz it's either we cook it ourselves, or get it at the few Malaysian restaurants in the city, which is so expensive.

My first round. Super good! I've never eaten like this in a very very long time.

The crazy long queue later on as more students from other uni flock in. We have to queue like 15 minutes just to get food, and even longer for stall no.4 which served delicious Malaysian Satay!

Luckily I don't need to queue up for that...

Coz I was the satay man! :P (for awhile)

Even for that short period, I dropped three sticks on the ground and burnt so many satays. Don't blame me if you get the black cancerous ones)

Guitar Is So Damn Yeng!

I started to become interested in guitar a couple of months ago when my sifu, Yong Hui, taught me the basics. You see... NONE of my useless friends back in Melaka wanted to teach me cause they are either too busy showing off to girls or too busy looking at themselves in the mirror -.-

Yes, I meant YOU Ashok, blardy Bangladeshi you...

Anyway, I got to enter a guitar store for the very first time and gosh... Damn yeng(cool) till jaw drop!

Guitar store in Tullamara. Very nice display of guitars and lots of other instruments as well. I've learnt so many things here like the difference between acoustic, classical, bass and electric guitar (I know I'm noob). But at the same time, it was a culture shock for me!

What the hell, a guitar can cost AUD5295 which is over RM15,000! Tell me if you will spend that much for a guitar?

What the meow, got Hello Kitty guitar? Anything cute will burn my eyes! I swear to god, I will take this guitar and smash the head of whoever that buys it. (even you 5 year old girls)

and holy shit, guitar store people are so damn violent lol! Nice! I think this is also meant for those who buy the hello kitty guitar.

Anyway, the two sifus ended up buying a guitar and a case each. Look yeng rite?

I sometimes wonder wassup with people who plays the guitar and why are they considered by others to be cool? I have asked some girls about it, and they said that guys who knows how to play guitar is a plus point for them. They didn't give me much of a reason. So, any idea why?

See! This guy looks so yeng! hahaha.

Yeng or not, the reason I started guitar is because I like singing, and if added with guitar, i can karaoke by myself in the bedroom.

(Lol what a pitiful hobby -.-)

For now, I'm slowly learning guitar from tutorials on Youtube plus I'm taking unit MUS207, Guitar Principles as electives for this semester in uni, which is sooooo fun!

That's why I ordered my first guitar ever on EBAY, so did my other two housemates who are taking the same subject. It costs only AUD94 (RM282) for 1 set which includes an acoustic guitar, a stand, a tuner, strings, picks, and a guitar bag.

Sure can become pro in no time!

Who knows, you might see me one day in Youtube doing covers of different artists and songs. Do subscribe then k, even if it's dam horrible ;)

After that, what's next for me?

Something yeng-er than guitar perhaps?

Awesome Adobo Chicken

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would have known that I'm a teacher-to-be slash cook wannabe x) Today my culinary experimentation brought me to the island of Philippines where I'm going to attempt one of the most popular local dishes called Adobo.

The recipe was based from fillipinofoodstore.com but I have added some of my awesomeness (like always haha) to spice up the dish and better it!

Awesome ingredients:

600g of chicken or pork (or mix) cut into bite size pieces

3 white mushrooms sliced

3 cloves of garlic minced

1 tbsp of grated ginger

1/2 tbsp of peppercorn crushed

1/2 tbsp of peppercorn whole

2 large bay leaves crushed

1 tbsp of sugar

1/4 cup of soy sauce

1/4 cup of malt vinegar

2 tbsp of cooking oil

(serves 2-3)

Procedure:

A good adobo is known for the beautiful marination and slow cooking process. In a salad bowl, mix 3 cloves of garlic minced, 1 tbsp of grated ginger, with the peppercorns, bay leaves, sugar, soy sauce and malt vinegar. Put the cut chicken pieces in and mix well. Let it marinate for about 24 hours! Yes, overnight. This lets the meat absorb all the flavours of the marinating sauce.

The next day, chuck everything including the sauce into a casserole and cover it. Let is simmer over slow fire for about 30 minutes or till the sauce has reduced. The strong smell of vinegar will be reduced and a fragrant aroma will fill your kitchen by then. Put in some cooking oil and the mushrooms for the last 5 minutes. Fry them altogether and done.

My second attempt: shredded chicken adobo ilocano style. Best served with steamed rice.

Try this simple yet beautiful dish yourself!

The Canberra Bitch and Dance Competition

the awesomest Malaysian dance group in Australia under the lead of Danny Jordan Rodrigues (Btw, happy birthday! This post is a present for u!).

It was the NCG (National Conference Games) in Canberra last month and in conjunction, the MASCA's Got Talent Competition. So the Rentak group had a nice 4 hour road trip to Canberra for the competition.

We were later then greeted by this really beautiful lady, Kak Ayu. She was a really pleasant person with a warm smile that compliments her elegance and ayuness. She also turned out to be the President of the Malaysian Club in the University of Canberra. O ya... I almost forgot..

She's also the nicest B*TCH and probably the second worst human being I've ever encountered, next to Adolph Hitler :)

Seriously guys and humans out there,

We arrived at Canberra, and was expecting to check into our rooms some time soon since we have already paid FULL price for 2 apartments. She told us one of our keys was not ready. So it was fine for us.

Then after some of the dancers performed for the Canberra Uni M-Fest, she asked us to go have fun bowling with the VIPs at the nearby bowling alley. Plus it's FREE :)

oo.. Cool! Astig!

So we hurriedly meet her after putting away all our stuff and costumes. Turns out those who arrived earlier have to help carry a whole load of dirty dishes to another area. Still fine with us :)

Ok we're on the way to the bowling alley now. Oh wait, she asks us to stop by her house so that she can change into something warmer. Ok. Oh wow, lots of kuih, snacks and drinks are prepared for us. She really IS nice and thoughtful :)

After eating and chatting, we offered to drive to the bowling alley since we got 1 car and a van. She say, nevermind, it's nearby only. Oh ok. Walk... walk... walk.... walk past the housing areas, walk past the lake, walk past a shopping mall, walk past the petrol station, walk past the skateboarding park and finally we reached the bowling alley after 30 minutes of walking. Oo, really nearby :)

Here's when we realized what idiots we are.

#1 She handed us 'pay 2 for the price of 1' coupons. FREE my ass la! So frikking expensive sumore.

#2 We went back late and her housemate guided us home while she kissed some VIP's ass. We then realized we were conned!!! The way home was actually SHORT, and we can see that we made a big round through the shopping mall, petrol station and skateboarding park. Which made us realize that all the while that AYU is stalling time because our accommodation is not ready due to her lousy management. That devious B*TCH toying us around and not thinking how tired we are!

#3 By now we would have known that the free snacks and drinks is intended to delay time too. I'd puke it all out if i could!

We arrived at the hotel at night (still hvent checked in!) to do our dance rehearsal and we were already dead exhausted and hungry. My contacts were alrdy dry and popping out that I have to frantically use my saliva to put it in back (Ya i know disgusting, dont do this unless its ur last pair or just plain disgusting like me). We were told by Christine, the actual nice hostess from Sydney, that we will receive dinner since we paid for the package of 2 apartment+lunch+dinner.

But no...

#4 That black-hearted Ayu told us that no dinner for us and she reasoned out some shit with the package and made us feel so guilty. She said "If you want dinner you have to come out another 500 dollars, will that be fair?". Bloody rude b*tch with no common sense at all. Even dinner for 20 people would not reach 500 dollars la! Fine, don't want to argue so we told her it's ok. We'll find our own dinner despite knowing that we paid for it.

#5 She finally gave us our key at almost 9pm!!!! Worst is, she asked us to thank these random 2 guys for 'sacrificing' their room for us. WTF!!!! WE PAID FULL PRICE AND WE DESERVE A NEW ROOM NOT SOME USED ONE SO WHY THE HELL MUST WE THANK THEM!! PLUS YOUR MANAGEMENT SUCKS AND YOU GAVE A SMALLER APARTMENT THAN WHAT WE PAID FOR AND YET YOU DIDN'T EVEN ONCE APOLOGIZE !!!

That is not cool, Ayu-b*tch, not cool at all.

#6 Next day, the hostess from Sydney came to see our rehearsals. They brought MacD for everyone! YAY! They also explained that we're SUPPOSE to have dinner that night. But apparently, 9 bags of packed food were MISSING from the car, including ours. We were so damn pissed off by then. That evil scheming bitch tried to cover everything up and never admitted her mistake but dare say we didn't pay for dinner n made us feel guilty.

#7 There were so many shyt that happened after that which involved rude hosts, lousy hospitality and stupid cover-ups but i'll not go on. But basically, screw you Kak Ayu. If you were a decent human being, you would have apologised earlier and we would never take it to heart or blame you for anything. But you chose to scar us with your lies and schemes. So you deserve this middle finger. Nah!

(I'm not fasting so I'll rant on behalf of my other poor friends who suffered or cried because of you. Let me burn in hell for all I care, but I'll make sure to drag you along! Muahahaha! Seriously kids, don't learn from this terrible teacher)

Putting all that crap aside, the main event, NCG and Masca's Got Talent, must go on.

While the Malaysian athletes were battling it out on the field, we were in the apartment preparing to battle it out on STAGE that night for the gala dinner and award giving ceremony. The competition was tough. Witnessing them during rehearsals honestly intimidated us!

Nevertheless, here's our winning dance routine that beat the other dance crew and won the overall 3rd place in MASCA's Got Talent! If you want to spot me, find the lousiest dancer :(

Don't care! We still brought home the trophy. A big thanks to Danny for teaching me my first hip-hop dance and the many first timers too with his superb choreography skills. Many thanks to my awesome Rentak friends too who worked really hard to do well in the competition.

Oh by the way, our sports team brought home the NCG Championship Trophy, beating the crap out of the other regions! Woo Hoo, New South Wales ROCKS! We really did sweep the whole event clean that night!

No thanks to a certain b*tch -.- (Who apparently didn't dare speak to us that night after her evil deeds are made obvious)

WWE RAW Live In Acer Arena

I remembered when I was little, I used to watch wrestling on TV3 with my brother every Thursday night supporting our all time favourite 'The Undertaker'. Then how I would actually imitate and go against the 'don't do this at home' warning lol.

I'm sure you guys would also remember imitating your favourite wrestlers doing body slams and ankle locks to inflict some pain on your friends. At least that's the funniest part of my childhood, along with my 2 good buddies Meng and Ashok who are crazy wrestling fanatics.

Especially Ashok. He actually used to believe that he was 'The Rock' and idolised him like mad. Yes even till TODAY, although he would not admit it -.-

You see, not only does he acts cocky or poyo like him all the time, but even to the extent of saying that he LOOKS like him!

Wtf, seriously? Not cool bro. Not cool.

So, when I was given the chance to actually experience World Wrestling Entertainment LIVE, I couldn't help it but to rub it in his face muahahaha!

Anyway, WWE Raw was in Sydney Acer Arena on the 31st of July. Me and the few guys in my cohort have bought the tickets online since February and have been waiting for this day ever since!

Ticket price: AUD70 (RM210) The seats were quite far and high up but still good (as you can see from the amazing pics I took :P)

Event starts at 10pm and we were a little late due to the crazy traffic that night. So we rushed in, quickly took our seats and joined the hyped up crowd, cheering and wailing as the entertainment of a lifetime begins.

As usual, a grand entrance, loud music and fireworks as they introduce the wrestlers.

Taunting and gaining the crowd's support before they start off the match.

Lots of intensity and vigorous movements in the match.

and plenty gravity defying stunts that makes the crowd go wild.

That's the real deal KANE giving a speech after interrupting the first match and doing a choke slam on one of the wrestlers. Yes, the real choke slam looks better live than in TV!

The sauciest match of the night - Women heavyweight championship! Don't you guys notice that there's a lot of differences between men and women wrestling.

Plus point #1 Lots of stripping

Plus point #2 The 3 B's - B**s, b***s and b**s

Plus point #3 It's women on women. Do the math.

Minus point 1 - Less action, lots of screaming.

Minus point 2 - Less stunt, lots of wild hair pulling. Wait, this is plus point for some!

Another difference is that nobody really cares which girl wins. The audience wins anyway ;)

Bringing in more wrestlers for next match.

But nevermind. The rest of us had fun and enjoyed the experience. Faiz actually bought that heavyweight championship belt replica for AUD50 (RM150). Oh and yeah, I got Big Show to sign my ticket!!

Er.. Anyone knows what F.U stands for?

Personally, I think watching WWE live once is enough, as I already know for the matter of fact that wrestling is FAKE! Yes little kids who like wrestling, Santa Clause and Tooth Fairy is FAKE too! Muahaha.

Malaysians Invading Macquarie Uni!!

It's August, the start of our second semester and the end of our boring holidays. Ya, I loovvee studying xD

For the first day back in uni, my cohort decided to have a photography session wearing our traditional Malaysian clothing. The idea is to send a Raya greeting to our lecturers and friends back in Penang cause we miss them soooo much. This photo shoot and hopefully many more, is also a chance to showcase what make Malaysians, Malaysians.

So here we are, in the middle of the Uni ground, parading our colourful and vibrant costumes.

Eating Out In Sydney...

As a Malaysian student living here for almost half a year, I have become more conscious of my spending (the more broke I am, the more conscious I'll be).

I admit that I am not the wisest spender, as I tend to save money on small things and end up spending more on others. Like my Dad said in his 1000 word email scolding me not to be "penny wise pound foolish". I can't really argue simply because he's the wisest spender person I know.

Well, my 'pound foolishness' is on FOOD. I'm a sucker for good food and I am all about trying something new. In Sydney, this indulgence came with a price. A hefty one.

Going out for a simple lunch easily costs me AUD10 (RM30). I don't know bout you guys, but RM30 is A LOT for me. In Malaysia, I do spend that much for a meal as long as I feel that it's worth it (usually comes with big portion, good ingredients and great taste)

But RM30 for fried rice and a can of coke here... err... you can't help it but to think twice.

And that's just food court standard fried rice. A restaurant one is another story. These are some examples from 'Thainamite' a thai restaurant nearby my place.

Special Fried Rice with Prawns - AUD12.90 (RM39)

Fried Rice with Crab Meat - AUD13.90 (RM42)

And here's a bowl of Tom Yam with chicken. In Malaysia with this small portion it will be about RM5? or perhaps less?

Guess how much is it here in RM?

A)~RM9

B)~RM14

C)~RM19

D)~RM24

Hint: Enough to buy 5 bowls back in Malaysia, which is just a sad sad circumstance for me.

Even in comparing international food brand such as McDonalds and KFC, we can see the apparent difference in the pricing. Let's take Nando's for further comparison.

Quarter meal chicken with one side - AUD11.90 (RM36)

In Malaysia this costs only RM14.95 and it comes with TWO sides.

Grilled Chicken Breast Burger - AUD14.95 (RM45!!)

It's only RM10.90 in Malaysia. If you think about it, RM45 can buy more than ten of those roadside stall burgers.

The difference in the price is heavily affected by the labour pay of the country. Here, a part time work pays you a minimum of AUD10 AN HOUR and with really good part-time jobs you can get AUD30 AN HOUR or MORE!

This makes me think of how underpaid Malaysian workers are. I used to work in Sushi King for Rm3.50 an hour for eight hours. That's only about 1 Australian Frikkin Dollar an hour. FML! F*** Malaysian's Life lol.

Anyway, let's see how it is eating out in fine-dining restaurants here. I don't know if 'Pancakes on The Rocks' is considered fine-dining, but it sure is a very recognised restaurant. A MUST-TRY if you are in Sydney.

No doubt that the food is awesome, just by looking at it, you can tell.

But you tend to enjoy it first and think about the price later.

Estimation of AUD25-30 (RM75-90) spent on dinner per person - a heavy amount for an independent non-working, zero FAMA student like me. Which is why such an expensive indulgence has to be a once in a blue moon occassion.

Of course the real student life is to save money and this can be done by cooking your own meals.
But if you must eat out, make sure the meal is worth the money.

You may be pleased to learn that the cheapest meal you can get in Australia would be fast food.

Hungry Jack's is particularly popular here. We have this in Malaysia too, but it's called Burger King. They are the same except that you can have your burger with bacon here which makes it extra good.

A set can be as cheap as AUD5 (RM15) and it includes a burger, fries, drinks and an ice cream. Guess who always order the same thing over and over again?

For some, eating fast food all the time may not suit your 'healthy' lifetstyle. However, you can opt for something with less salt and fat.

Subway foot-long sandwhich- AUD7 (RM21). If you're not a heavy eater, this can be your lunch and dinner.

Another way to cut down on food expenditure when eating out is to share meals.

For example a plate of Aussie's best Fish n Chips - AUD40 (rm120) for four-five person. This family platters or combos comes in really big portion. Plus it won't cost as much as ordering individual meals.

This can be done when eating out in restaurants too.

This good dishes served with rice only cost about AUD11 per person! As they say, "sharing is caring"... for your wallet.

No doubt eating out can be pricey. But at the end of the day, we must weigh whether the experience and food put together is worth the money. Despite being calculative, I do realize that I am already blessed being able to study overseas, so I might as well make the best out of it and enjoy my youth with good food. If I were to die today, I would not have any regrets.

Shalom Super Spicy 5 Chilli Challenge

When I say that I'm a big fan of spicy food, I mean REAL SPICY food. I probably inherited this fire resistant tongue from my Hainanese dad and Nyonya mom - two cultures that are quite known for food that will make you crap fire balls.

So when my friends told me about this halal Indonesian restaurant in the city that serves this super spicy 5 chilli chicken, I was really excited to try it out. Thx to my good friends Mental and Chubby for finally bringing me to Shalom.

So, Im currently paying AUD39 (RM108) a month for 6G data. I know, dam wtf rite?

Worst is... I accidentally exceeded 3G last month and I have to pay the price...

AUD339 (times 3 = RM1017) for the internet alone. (That's AUD100 for 1 extra Gig)

FML to the max and I really hate the number 3 now! T.T

10 Most Annoying Types of Blog

Have you ever wondered what kind of blogs repelled you from reading more? You know... those kind of blogs you just close the window after reading a line or two, or scroll straight towards the ending or choose not to read anymore?

Well, here's my list of 10 annoying things that bugged me about certain bloggers/blogs. (in random order).

Don't take this too seriously though... just a personal opinion.

#1 Blogs that have no effort or original ideas.

They simply come up with a line or two and paste links to the articles, or just put a video from youtube. Maybe copy paste some long shitty ideas from somewhere and expect us to read it.

Once or twice should be alright (if it's interesting), but not ALL the time. Use your god-given brain pls.

#2 Blogs with no pictures at all.

This is still alright if you really have decent writing skills that can arouse your readers' attention or the content is informative or interesting enough.

But no point talking bout some happenings in your life or events without any pic at all especially in long posts. This will only bore us to death.

#3 bLoGs WiTh StUpId FoNtS ThInKiNg tHaT iT's AtTrAcTiVe

but in fact, really annoying and ya, stupid.

#4 Blogs with long ramblings on how their life sucks.

F*k you, get a life! Don't spread your depression towards your readers.

#5 Bloggers who always write about their boyfriend/girlfriend and their stupid love life stories.

Nobody wants to know what you did with him or her at 11.27pm or that you guys have been dating for 2 months and 18 days. Also, stop repeating how lucky you are to be with that person.

You fat bastard lol.

#6 Blogs with auto play music.

I don't know bout you guys, but this is as annoying as hell! Especially when sudden LOUD music comes from dunno which blog, and you can't find the player.

I know you want to share your favourite music with the whole world, but please remove it as we are listening to our own. In this case, two is not better than one.

#7 Bloggers who exaggerate one trivial matter in the whole post.

I just wonder how can you manage to write a 1000 word essay on stupid things like the new pimple you got. Nobody really cares. Unless the pimple is green or boob shaped. Even so, one pic and a caption is enough.

#8 Bloggers who update twice or more a day.

Nothing better to do is it? Spam my blogroll but the post is of no quality.

#9 Bloggers who warn us about the disaster to expect in the post

For example:

"This post is going to be a boring one"

"You can just ignore this. I'm not feeling myself today"

"Lots of my camwhoring pics coming up >< *shrugs*"

This is still alright for good or decent looking camwhorers coz we humans in nature are attracted to pretty things.

Jordan a.k.a Ryan Nigahiga's Birthday Celebration

It was our little bro Jordan Pang's Birthday on the 23rd of May. We also call him Ryan Nigahiga lol.

Anyways, we decided to throw him a surprise party at Robert Menzie's College where he lives.

Preparations. Practicing my chocolate writing skills for the cake. Didn't turn out quite well so better leave it to the pro :(

The super delicious super creamy Chocolate and Cappuccino birthday cake, baked by our talented chef, Kar Wei.

Definitely better than Secret Recipe. The chocolate especially is dam good cause she added a bit of alcohol! x)

The only thing is that there are TWO mistakes with the writing. Guess what?

#1. She wrote 21 instead of 20. Wrong age lol 0.0

#2. She wrote the first J too big, so we had to change Jordan's name to JOJO, which was dam funny haha. I think it suits him better.

Good job Kar Wei, everything turned out better than we thought ;)

We stayed up till 7 in the morning and went to sleep during sunrise. So Jordan you better appreciate all these done for you.

Being internationally diverse was not planned. Just so happened that we clicked and share a common interest - culinary experimenting and good dinner over wine.

Sharing my Awesome Lasagne recipe with them

Yesterday's Happening:

First attempt on Awesome Nasi Lemak.

Awesome Nasi Lemak Rice and Sambal Recipe (Credits to Vimal)

Nasi Lemak Rice

5 cups of rice
Pandan leaf or 1 drop of pandan essence
200ml of coconut milk
enough water to level up 5 cups of rice.
2 pieces star anise and cinnamon.
3/4 spoon of salt
1 spoon of sugar

Sambal (Chilli Paste)

100g of dried chillis
150 ml of Tamarind Juice (Air Asam Jawa)
1 red onion
2 cloves of garlic
5 cloves of shallots
a tbsp of fermented shrimp paste (belacan)
salt and sugar

I miss Malaysia but this made me feel at home :)

Canberra Parliament House

My cohort went for an excursion to Canberra this March. The trip was organised by the University of Macquarie for us, so it's free. A free trip to the capital of Australia...

Haiz.. truthfully the trip kinda sucks. A disappointment to be exact.

First is because nothing much to do, unless u like to learn bout history and politics.

Second, I was like a zombie throughout the entire trip. Slept at 4.30am the night before and wake up at 6 wtf.

Third, I hate the toilet in the bus...

It doesn't close! So @#%$*ing smelly for 4 hours.

Sigh... Canberra...

Student's Budget Cooking

It is quite common that students living on their own can't really afford outside food all the time.

At least back in Penang I can still afford to eat outside food cause it's hou lan cheap. However, in Sydney, normal food is equivalent to a trip to Sushi King or Kenny Rogers. And good food is equivalent to TGI Fridays T.T

How the hell la I want to afford eat Sushi King price everyday?

Well if you're from a rich family, then good for you.

But for people like me..*ehem*... COOK la what else. It saves cost, it's fun and the food is healthier plus hygienic. Also you know the lazy-to-go-out feeling rite?

Anyways, today's post is about sharing my budget cooking experience during my poor poor uni life.

Recommended for those who wants to experience 'real' albeit cheap student life.

If you're staying with friends, SHARE the cost of groceries and take turns to cook. Be a MAN and do the right thing!

Unless of course, your friends are food stealing assholes.

As I was saying... 'real' student life...

Can't be fulfilled if you don't know the SUPER BUDGET SUPER EASY food that ALL students eat...

Maggi!

Not exactly, but I can't afford 'Maggi' brand here. Overpriced seh... Imported konon.

If you wanna do it cheap, do it good.

This is my style of preparing instant noodles:

Boil lamb shanks

Throw in some fishballs...

and fresh cabbages.

Then put in the noodles.

Break an egg or two into the soup.

Lastly, off the fire and put in the powder. (Trust me, it tastes better if you put the powder last)

My super glutinous super healthy Ramyun. Have proteins, vitamins, fibre and most importantly, have taste (MSG).

Okla not that healthy, but this is good food for late night studying.

My late night Har Mee with Kang Kung this time. Truly satisfying.

If you don't have a stove then I guess u have to stick to plain noodle with hot water.

Here's other common and easy food to do (If you want recipes just ask :D)

Fried Rice.

Had this plenty of times, and you can experiment with different weird types as well. Getting sick of it though.

More cheap and easy food coming up.

Easy baked Chicken Pizza - simple ingredients and cheesy

Spaghetti Bolognese - very common dish in Australia.

Cheese Baked Rice. Seriously, this is better than Kim Gary's or any restaurant for that matter.

Maggi Goreng - yong hui's first time cooking. Not bad oo.

Salmon Sushi - made by me and Chubby

Fruit salad - topped with vanilla flavoured yoghurt. Refreshing :)

Lamb Lasagne - my favourite.

Rendang Chicken - very Malaysian

Rendang Pork - very Chinese xD

Vindaloo Curry Chicken - very Indian.

Omelette - need skill leh to flip this huge omelette.

Oyster sauce Cauliflowers - one of Ronald gor's speciality.

Occasionally you can call friends over for dinner.

The social time you have with friends is how you fully experience your student life.

Sydney Mardi Gras 2010

Sydney Mardi Gras is an Annual Gay and Lesbian parade. This year's theme was 'Mardi Gras History of the World' and it was held at Oxford Street on the 27th of Feb.

Thousands waited for HOURS under the hot sun just to get a good spot. What a bunch of dumb asses...

Ok la, we were among them too...

Lots of people with colourful costumes. Alice in Wonderland pre party.

The parade lasted for a very long time, but we decided to head back at 10pm. So we walked all the way to town hall and stopped by at Oporto to grab a quick bite.

We then took the subway train to go back.

That was when 'THE INCIDENT' happened...

I WAS HARASSED BY A GAY!!

My friends and I was in the train... seating there quietly, resting from the exhaustion.

Then a group of guys and girls came into the train and started to make a huge ruckus. Almost as if they were arguing over something. We couldn't see them but we could hear them from the next area.

After a while, the conversation among them became sexual. A guy's whose voice is the loudest shouted to another "Take off your pants, I will suck your *meow~* right now". He repeated that a few times added with some other nonsense talk which can make your granny's teeth fall off.

Then this fat guy (apparently the guy with the loudest voice) came up to our area and started harassing the couple beside me. "SIR, ARE YOU GAY? If you are you tell me. I WILL SUCK YOUR *MBEKKKK~* RIGHT NOW!"

Then he turned to me and my Indonesian friend.

"I AM GAY AND IF YOU ARE, I WILL SUCK YOUR *WOOF WOOF* RIGHT NOW!".

"No... no thank you.."

And he rejoined his group of friends again.

Kla verbally harassed. Still...

That effing fat asshole...

A Letter to Lily

Dear Lily...

How have you been?How's Mike? Are you taking care of your health? Hope you are doing well back in Melaka.

It's been almost 3 months since I last saw you and being thousands of kilometre apart is bad enough as it is. I thought I would be a strong boy and say that everything is alright. But I for sure know now that it's not. The idea of not seeing you for two years really breaks my heart to bits.

Life hasn't always been easy here. There are times that I just wish to go home even if it's to say hi to you, or to talk to you about my studies, problems and life in general. But every time I wish to, I am more aware that you're not there.

Nevertheless, I am truly thankful for you. Probably the only time I believe in God is when he gave me such a wonderful person like you. I can't imagine what I would do without you and I can't imagine my life not knowing you.

Thinking back, you have always been supportive about the choices I make in life and never once said no to me. But I haven't always been good, have I? The tears you shed behind those closed doors of your bedroom, I don't know how will I ever mend that.

Maybe just a little.. I hope to make it up by being the pride and joy of your life. I knew you were happy for me when I chose to be an English teacher. How proud you were when you told your friends that I'm pursuing my dreams overseas. That relieved me. I want to do this now for you, more than anyone.

You don't have to worry bout me any longer, everything is fine.

Although I'm not under your wing, you have raised a good boy over the years and equipped him with all the qualities and skills you believed in. He will now take care of himself. He will now take leave and face the scary world out there.

Hillsong Sydney

For those who haven't heard of Hillsong before, watch this video and guess what is it all about:

If you haven't got it by now, it's the least obvious answer.

Yes, the video above is a scene of a normal Sunday service in church - Hillsong church.

Hillsong church is an internationally recognised church and they are not only based in Sydney but also London, United Kingdom, Ukraine, South Africa, Sweden, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Moscow.

The church that I went to is frikking huge, like a concert hall. I think it sits about 2000-3000 people.

Hillsong church Sydney is founded by pastor Brian Houston (on stage). The church concept caters more towards Christianity and Youth which explains the awesome band, world class singers and concert environment used for singing praises.

Since youth loves to rock out in concerts. So why not rock out in churches too? - a really good idea.

Another fact: Their music are very well known and used in churches around the world with over 40 albums released and many reaching gold and platinum status.

This is one of the nice Hillsong songs that I like, 'Hosanna' Sang by the beautiful Brooke Fraser. I didn't get to record coz I was so into her voice, but got this from Youtube.

I'm so lucky to hear her live! Too bad, that was the first and last time I heard her sing. She has now gone to America to pursue her career.

During the Easter celebration, I got to go to one of Hillsong's event at Sydney Olympic park, and guess who sang there.

2009 Australian Idol winner, Stan Walker!

I just went for the sake of going but who knew I got to hear Stan singing a few songs.

And damm... He's really good. All the reason to win Australian Idol.

This time the hall sits at least 5,000 people. No shit...

Clubbing Scene in Sydney

So what is it about Sydney clubbing scene that makes you let loose and have fun?

First is ... The Company.

You'll find it interesting how you go in with the same old friends...

and end up with a bunch of new ones.

People in Sydney are really friendly and don't have the siasui-ness that we Malaysians typically have. So they are basically fun-loving thick faced clubbers (in a good way of course).

Everytime we go clubbing, random strangers never fail to approach us to dance, chat, take photos or even buy us drinks. How cool is that! The people and the atmosphere combined will definitely make your night a more enjoyable one.

Second is Booze...

How can you club without drinks. The alcoholic beverages here have different brands than Malaysia. No Cap Harimau etc.

I initially had a hard time ordering drinks so simply go for anything that sounds nice... Tootheys, VB (Very Bitter), Stella Attoir, James Boag...etc.

Third is... the Theme

Clubbing is not just clubbing here.

It's an EVENT! especially in my University bar. These once a week occasions comes with a theme where u have to dress accordingly or at least bring that mood along with you.

First Attempt on Awesome Lasagne

My aunt in Melbourne makes a killer Lasagne.

Simply awesome!

I had the opportunity to learn from her while I was there during the Easter break. So this will be my first attempt doing it on my own.

Here's the steps:

First, prepare the meat and sauce (minced lamb, diced tomatoes, tomato puree and Leggo's tomato and herb lasagne paste)

Then layer it sequentially with lasagna sheets (sheet, sauce, sheet and sauce again). Break and cover the whole area thoroughly.

Add ham before coating it with the final layer of sauce.

Layer the top with white sauce (butter, flour, full cream milk, water and salt)

Finally top it with shredded cheddar cheese.

Chuck it into the oven to bake (200-250 degrees) till the cheese turns golden. This will take u approximately 30 minutes and..

VOILA!

There you have it, awesome Lasagna ready to be served for your friends and family.

Looks not too bad for beginner right? but note to self:

Less salt next time...

and get a bloody proper baking tray before your Pakistani housemate kills u.

Teachers and Tattoos

My best friend Cindy just recently got herself a tattoo on her back.

and my girlfriend Kim is getting hers next, probably some tribal wordings on her leg.

I've gotten one on my neck as well.

Okla, mine's a fake.

I've always wanted to get one a long time ago but to be honest... I have doubts. I still remember what my dad told me when I first got my ear pierced.

"Papa is ok with u piercing. But DON'T get a tattoo". lol...

That was way back when I was 16. As I grew up, the urge to get a tattoo grew too. It's mainly because I've always found a fascination with art on the body. Growing up learning from private art classes and to be an artistic person myself (ceh...not really), I've been drawing tattoos on myself and on my friends since I could remember.

At one point I was even making money from my inmates in National Service from drawing tattoos not only with permanent marker, but also homemade permanent tattoos with needles, thread and pen ink. It was an unruly sight with lots of blood gushing, gnashing of teeth and wailing to go with it. Muahahahaha....*evil laugh*

Seriously...

As I went through that phase of my life and entered the teaching line, I now ask myself the ultimate question... which I would like to ask everyone else too...

What do you think about teachers that have piercings and tattoos?

It has always been a taboo for teachers to have piercing or tattoos as this profession upholds a certain image that we teachers need to conform to. At a certain level, I think that is reasonable..... 10 maybe 50 years ago. But time has changed and people's mentality especially our young children's has changed with it.

What is not acceptable years ago, is now a common practice in our daily life. I wonder...

If we can change from teacher-centred to student-centred

If we can change from rotan to no rotan at all

If we can change from blackboards to LCD projectors

If we can change from text books to laptops

and most importantly,

If we can change from BM to English and back to BM again 0.0

So how many years more do we need to give to accept that teachers don't need to conform to an outdated 50 years ago so called "teacher image".

It's just the matter of time. But I'm gonna start now.

I say WAKE UP and accept that teachers are humans too. We curse and swear among each other (not to students of course.. but how far is that true). We enjoy lewd jokes every once in a while. We watch dirty videos too and also...

We are on FACEBOOK for goodness sake! That's D.E.V.I.L written all over it :P

Anyways to answer my question, I googled up on other's opinions and I particularly love this response.

"I believe the outward appearance has no definition about the persons inside. The person could be the worlds best teacher and could be fully sleeved and gauged to 00's and that wouldn't affect their mind. I am 17 years old, I am about five foot inches tall and a slender (not bone skinny) frame, and I dress modestly, but underneath all my clothing I have three tattoos. Go figure. The person may choose to show themselves as a work of art for an artist of their choice and the art may represent their soul. You should be more worried about how the teacher teaches your child and how good of a person they are on the inside, not about how much ink they have in their skin and how much hole they have developed in their body. Self image is a free thing in this country and I believe that a teacher who is tattooed and pierced is just showing how more optimistic they really are. I believe it shows that they have more than just a square, closed mind. Crazy Housemates Pranked Me....... TWICE !!

Before I move to unit 175, I was actually living at unit 170 with house mates from Hong Kong and Shanghai.

We were one big hot pot enjoying family.

They have been staying at this house for at least a year, so when I moved in, I was the newbie of the house. Conversation with them was not an issue because they can speak with me in English or Mandarin. But they taught me a lot of Cantonese words too. Mainly bad words.

It was summer so my fav word would be:

Hou lan yit ah!

Translation: F***ing hot ah!

It was really fun and 'educational' staying with them.

Put that aside, I actually just want to introduce two weird ones:

Shanghai Selina and Crazy Kit

Selina is known for her innocence. She is very straight/ blur especially in terms of courting and relationship. Sometimes she's in her own world and thinks too much. But most of the times, she's out with us having fun, drinking and clubbing all the way.

Oh ya.. she's a terrific drinker and dancer. I would have posted a video of her dancing when we were playing truth or dare, but I can't seem to find the file.

Maybe next time aite.

This gangster girl is Kit Yau or Kira Yau. She's known for annoying and pissing me off.

Note to self: Never watch ghost movies with her. She will scream and hit anyone closest to her. Be it girl or guy.

Nevertheless, she is a very fun person to hangout with....

But not in her room. She's a pig!

Among the rest, I can say that I'm closest to her. She's practically my big sister. (Kit ar.... miss u leh while writing this)

So now let me tell u how they pranked me last time.

Imagine coming home and the house was all quiet...

I knocked their room doors and nobody answered....

Assuming that they were asleep or dead, I just entered my room, put down my stuff and opened my toilet door

@%#&&^!!! Shyt!! I was shocked seeing this in my toilet especially with the typical ghost hair like that. The first thing I thought was why Sydney got pontianak =.=

We had a good laugh about it and may I say, well done Selina for pranking me.

I shoo her out of my room and lock the door this time. I was ready to take a bath, so I on the heater and did a little bit of sit ups in front of the mirror while waiting for the hot water.

Out of a sudden the mirror moved...

and a girl started screaming like crazy and cry! which made me scream like crazy too. I was seriously stunned that I remained still after that to absorb what happened.

Kit was f***ing hiding in my closet!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a person who scares easily, but that was the single scariest moment in my life. My heart raced like mad and my stomach suddenly cramp from the sit ups.

Kit closed the door, remained inside and started to weep because apparently she was more scared than me. She scouted for me from the closet but didn't expect to see me on the floor.

This is the first time I see the pranker got so shocked herself haha.

Seriously they are the craziest housemates anyone could have... Want to know the worst part of the whole incident?

I was completely naked. =.=

FML.

Before anyones asks, let me just justify two things:

1) Kit only got to see my upper body before started screaming.

2) I was ready to take a bath of coz la naked. Don't judge me!

What The Hell Happened To Chris?

He left his parents...

he left his friends...

he left his valentine...

he flew off with his course mates...

he got pampered with food...

and got high on plane...

he found Sydney after 8 hours...

he found his campus village...

and his University ground...

he spent AUD7 (RM23) on his 1st meal here...

and AUD1.80 (RM5.50) on a frikking bottled water...

then came to realize everything here is expensive!

He settled down in his house...

with his crazy house mates...

but soon learnt that its just the beginning...

and that shit happens here all the time.

He had barbecue with the seniors...

he had steamboat...

and a few drinks on occasions...

ya just a little bit...

he basically had a crazy time with the seniors.

Even with the uni villagers...

he had lots of free food every now and then...

lots of free drinks...

lots of activities...

lots of fun...

and definitely lots of new friends.

He had fun on orientation week in uni...

He joined Malaysian Student Association, Oversea Christian Fellowship and W.A.N.G Club (Free Hotdogs Club)

and collect free goodies all week round.

and free condoms to put gobstopper candies in...

that's what he called uni life.

He left again, on the train this time...

to head to Chinatown...

to do some growing up...

and to celebrate his first Chinese New Year...

away from home...

he misses home food :'(

But he's got new friends now...

This was actually my secret project that I've been working on with comic studios for the last 2 months.

Yes, I've been collaborating with Dylan from comic studios on my new design and I am really happy with the end results.

Say goodbye to my old boring template!

The theme that I brought into this blog was obviously Heaven and Hell, and working on it was certainly NOT easy for either of us. I have given my draft via email to dylan and he has realize my idea for me. Imagine the time, sweat and thought poured into this, so be nice on your comments :)

But I sincerely and personally have to thank dylan for putting up with all my long messages and spams about my demands, nonsense and what not in the making of it. Not only did he gave me professional design service, but also a reasonable price for it. Get to know more bout his work here.

Btw, juz to let my friends n readers know, I have safely arrived in Australia and I am enjoying my studies and parties vry much here. Im also sorry for not updating my blog in a while. Juz hope that my laptop will get fixed soon so that I can get it rolling again.

Preparations for Australia

How are you going, mate?

I've been REALLY REALLY busy with lots of things lately. I'm going off to Australia in exactly 2 days time for my 2nd and 3rd year degree. I'm really excited to go but with things as it is now, I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to Malaysia yet.

Here's a list of people and things I'm going to miss...

My family... (my parents Mike and Lily, my Lucifer reincarnated brother Don, my loving godparents, my cool aunt Pearly whose middle finger is popular now, my mahjong family in Johor and my Melaka and KL cousins)
My girlfriend who has put up with lots of my crap over this past year, not many can survive this but somehow she did. More amazingly, I survived her!
My gang (I am so lucky to have a bunch of loyal, supportive and caring friends - will be elaborating this in my next post)
My friends (thanks for the wishes and support)
My lecturers and teachers who have made me what I am today, without them, I wont be writing this in the first place.
I'm also gonna miss Malaysian food. Tell me where else can get roti canai for 70 cents or wan tan mee for RM2.20? Not only the cheapest, but Malaysian food is the best! Too bad a plate of Nasi Lemak costs AUD9 in Australia.... that's like rm30 a plate. Wtf right? Dun believe click here
Malaysian clothings. Not talking bout cultural or traditional ones. But clothings in general. Ya, this is what I actually think - Asians have better style than Westerners (especially students). Sometimes we tend to get overboard... but better overdressed, than under.
The weather... not so much. I dislike the humid weather we have in Malaysia, especially this few days when it's blazing hot, even in the evening. I prefer to be cold all the time coz it suits my reptilian skin. The grass is greener on the other side, ay mate?
Lastly, I'm gonna miss Malaysian beaches... where everyone wears something (:P)
More things to miss when I'm actually there...

Since I haven't even done any packing (although in facebook, I said that I would), this would just be a brief update on my things to pack!

1. Toiletries

Shampoo and body scrub. Juz 1 bottle each to last for the first month while I settle down.

Toothbrush and toothpaste.

My secret to photoshop free skin - use 2 kind of facial wash twice a day. The weather in Austalia can be really dry, so must pack face moisturizer, better yet with spf 20 and above. O ya, unfortunately lip balm is needed too, even for guys.

Hair sprays.

Body sprays. Perfumes given by my girlfriend and aunt. Armpit anti-stink spraying device from watsons.

2. Contact lenses.

6 months supply of Freshkon contact lenses, Renu multiplus solution and eye moisturizer.

3. Clothings

Hoods from Romp design.

More Tees from Romp.

Clubbing wear.

Black, white and blue jeans. Bought partly for new year too.

White and checkered shorts from Times Square KL.

Clothes from my fav store, Jefferson. Saw it today in the new Jusco Melaka and chiong-ed in. I even got a lifetime member card. Too late huh?

We can never have enough of this. I know it says M size, but I have small waist k... =.=

4. Cultural clothings.

We're actually required to bring this to Austalia to showcase our Malaysian culture.

I've already got my Baju Melayu and got all the datins to swoon around me...

So I thought that with this Chinese Kung Fu shirt, I will be able to get Australian-asian chicks to swoon around me xD

5. Sportswear.

I just need this, swimming shorts from Sun Paradise.

and my new sports shoe for jogging and gym.

6. Winterwear.

Jackets, gloves and scarf to withstand 7 degrees winter in Australia. Not that cold actually.

7. Finally, a big luggage to fit all

Maximum weight to Australia is 20kg, any extra weight will be charged rm88 per kg! But if Im not mistaken, with my enrich card, I can get 5 kg extra weight F.O.C :D

Cindy's 21st Birthday at Essence Kitchen, Holiday Inn Hotel

Anyway..

Yay, she's finally 21 on the 26th of Jan. She's probably too old for this kind of crap anymore.... so we decided to celebrate her birthday with a more high-class, refined, sophisticated, what not celebration.

We went to Holiday Inn Hotel Melaka for a hi-tea buffet.

By noon, the restaurant Essence Kitchen in Holiday Inn was already so jam packed with hungry tea-sipping customers. However the management has already reserved a nice table for the five of us.

It didn't take us quite long before we aim straight for the food. The girls are starting with some light food.. maybe to loosen their stomach - that's what I heard.

Dun care man... I straight wallop the main dishes.

On the plate from left: Seafood skewer, baked fish, soy sauce king prawns, vegetable triangle thingy, onion sausages, fish fillet with tartar sauce, hokkien mee and yong chow fried rice.

First impression: main dish sucks ass.

The seafood skewers tasted sour and stale. Probably because of the pungent smell from the mussel and the sauce. By the second stick, I'm already feeling like puking.

The king prawn is tasteless and the fried rice taste weird. Like those leaf wrapped rice they serve at the end of a Chinese wedding dinner - which nobody eats.

The only thing edible is the sausage and the fish. Excellent.

The fish was really good that I took more when they served the new batch. My gf's favourite are those cheese bread sticks.

For those hardcore meat lovers, you would probable go for this: Marinated (raw) beef and lamb steak. Of coz you can take whatever you want and the chef at the counter will cook it for you. And in my case, personally deliver it to the table.

The cooked meat. The lamb is really succulent and tasty. I think it absorbed the flavour well.

More western food. The pizza's nothing special I guess.
Even I can do a better one using Gardenia bread.

Baked potatoes and sour cream. Not a fan but the rest said that it was nice.

One of my favourite Malaysian food of all time - Satay.

It was quite good but too bad everyone can't finish it. So the waiter took it away. Which reminds me that in here... WASTAGES ARE ALLOWED. Unlike Seoul Garden that charges RM5.00/kg or Sibaraku that charges 10! Really cekik darah.

Anyways we're going into the highlight of all the food there...

and chocolate coated grapes on trees.

We'd be fuking obese.

Nevertheless... its a sinful joy to indulge in. Like a moth to a flame.

You'd probably hate me by now, so I better stop putting up dessert pics.

Next event is the cutting of the cake. O ya, we got the staffs and supervisor to bring in the cake and sing for her happy birthday!

That's the tea we ordered: Jasmine Green, Vanilla, Earl Grey, Peppermint and Lemon Green Tea. We're tea-sipping customers too.

Overall we had fun and we head home with extra sugar weight.

Here's my rating of this restaurant.

Food: 4/10 - disappointing actually. The desserts saved them.
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Price: quite reasonable. It's Rm40+ per head but we got a special 20% discount, so I can't complain.

Wonder why we're given the VIP treatment and special rates?

Coz my gf works here. She's the buffet coordinator and the staffs are her friends.

No wonder I can't eat in peace =.=
