13 H1N1 break out in Penang

>> Friday, July 31, 2009

The swine flu epidemic A(H1N1) remains unresolved even till today. Many schools, institutes, universities, private sectors etc has closed down as a result of the spread.
Ya, my institute, Institut Perguruan Pulau Pinang is also one of them.

Got a call from a lecturer a couple of days ago saying that there's over 160 people reported with fever, 6 person highly suspected with H1N1 and 2 person has been comfirmed. Up to date, we couldn't tell the statistics but 3 of the 6 has been brought home by the parents.

Anyways, my institute is closed down for a few days that means no lectures! And students are to be remained quarantined for a few days. Good news? Bad news?

Today, in Penang itself there are over 450 people known to be infected with H1N1. That's a worrying number if you ask me especially when the virus is air borne. Just imagine the pyramid effect it would have.

So if you'd like to stay on the safe side, you know what you got to do. Don't need for me to type the long list of precaution and prevention measures. You have internet, so be smart Malaysians for once.

May God bless us all and keep us safe from harm.

With that..

DO SPREAD IT...

The news.

12 Of DSLR and Cheese Baked Rice

>> Wednesday, July 22, 2009

This is my first post using DSLR pics and I juz love the quality.

Thx to fishy the photographer.

In celebrating the wonders of SLR cameras (not really) we went to E-Gate for dinner.

I suggested trying out a new makan place called Hongkie Kopitiam. Well, it's actually not really new, but at least new for us.

Thank God, my baseless decision paid off.

They have the best Cheese Baked Rice like... Ever!
Even better than the ones at Kim Gary's

The variety of Cheese Baked Rice served ranging from roasted chicken and fresh seafood to tenderloin pork and beef was right on the notch, our definition of a hearty meal.

Not to forget the choice of sauce to suit your taste buds (tomato, mushroom, black pepper, white sauce/cream milk)

and a good Yin Yang Coffee to go with it.

Will probably make this place a regular coz I just can't resist the feeling of warm fluffy cheese melting in my mouth. Who could?

Who could resist...

the cheesiness....

of the Cheese Baked Rice I mean..

For dinner, the guys drove all the way to Seagate,

a seaside makan place in Penang.

but mainly to enjoy Shisha (also known as Hookah)
a water pipe for smoking.

We ordered apple flavour :D
and 1 pipe costs us rm12

I've always seen people ordering Shisha in mamak stalls in Melaka, but I've never tried it coz no gang to teman.

In Penang however, I have d guys to teman.

So this will b my 1st time.

So called future teachers like this?

Btw, all I can say is "fuuuuhhhh BEST.."

But when I got back to my hostel, I vomited....

TWICE.

The apple taste in my throat and lungs is er.... weird.

Haiz ..
There goes all my sotong from my Nasi Goreng Sotong into the toilet bowl...

6 Heaven on Paddington Pancakes

>> Friday, July 10, 2009

The food hunt continues as we search for the best pancake in Penang and possible the world, located at the heart of Queensbay Mall.

Paddington House of Pancakes!

A restaurant that solely concentrates on serving nothing but fine pancakes
"Over 135 choices, 1 hard decision"

It's true, we took like 15 minutes to decide and the poor waiter just stood there waiting.

We initially thought of ordering this Volcano pancake which cost rm65 coz the 10 scoops of ice-cream tempted us.

However, we decided to go with these...

I immediately fell in love with the place and the food.
It was heaven on pancakes!

What amazes me more is that the waiter has a brain of an elephant!
He memorized all the numbers and the names of the dish and didn't even need a paper to take down our orders.

Keng oo.. he should take the memory test.

The downside is this rm1.40 can of soft drink...

cost rm5...

what a rip off..

Nevertheless...

Chubby enjoyed his hearty meal...

So did Mental.

Will b back to Paddington soon :D

15 True Voice Competition

>> Tuesday, July 7, 2009

(Dear readers, sry 4 my absence. While u were enjoying urself on d internet, I was suffering from sunburn from my Biro TataNegara Camp in Perak. Here's a delayed post..)

30th June - My institute, IPGM Kampus Pulau Pinang, held a grand event called "Suara Jati"

What is it.. you might ask?

Its a singing competition.

and of coz...
me and Chubby persuaded each other to enter for fun.

This is the video of me attempting something any ordinary Chinese wouldn't...

video

A MAWI song entitled 'Kian'! wtf?

Mind the voice break at the 1st chorus :P
Oso sry to d girls who I didn't take flowers from, seriously didn't notice...
I wont lie but it was very nerve wrecking singing on stage especially with lecturers and students staring right at you.

Oya to my frens, stop calling me Mawi coz I actually hate that 'poyo' fella...

Isyk... poyo fella...

However, Chubby emerged as the star of the night as he serenaded us with Faizal Tahir's "Sampai Syurga".

video

A stellar performance!

It was a disappointment that Chubby didn't win 1st place...
A very BIG disappointment indeed as the crowd was already anticipating his victory.

Btw neither of us even make top 5.

Well who can blame the judges, a couple of mid 50s lecturers whose ears can't do shyt anymore.
(I have the audience's support on this)

Anyways, we didn't enter to win. We really did have FUN and I think we made ourself proud.

Congrats to the winners! no hard feelings...
but I still think Chubby is the best of d nite..

and CUTEST! :D

You be the judge.
